Blacksite Studio - Stinky Tom's Watchhouse

Today's session is all about another MDF kit from Blacksite Studio in the US. Stinky Tom's Watchhouse is another pre-painted kit that will help fill in some more options for fantasy-style games. The kit can by purchased on it's own, but I got it as part of the Riverthorne Hollow Bundle, with a bit of a discount for a collection of 4 of their kits, including the previously reviewed  Bandit Camp.

Packaged kit in shrink wrap.  No instructions are contained in the kit, but basic instructions are found on Blacksite Studio's website.  I found them easy enough to follow, but are mostly just some pictures without much text for guidance. Simple, but effective enough, I suppose.

The instructions list everything you need to complete the kit, which is listed as moderate difficulty.
I found that I used:
  • White PVA glue
  • Superglue / CA glue - I only used for attaching the window supports due to faster dry time
  • Hobby knife for trimming from sprue
  • File set for some clean up of cut lines from sprue
  • Some rubber bands to help hold things while drying, a helpful idea from the directions in another company's kit.

Assembling the watchtower.

Assembly of the main structure.

Finishing up the tower roof.

Finished model on the gaming mat, complete with faux-fur thatched roof included in the kit.

A sizable piece of terrain to add to the collection. One thing noteworthy is that this set does not have an accessible interior, although the roof of the tower is removable to accommodate a model or two (depending on base/size).

I'm quite pleased with this kit, and think it will fit in well with many types of games.  Its large enough  to give a good objective in army-based games, and can be made to fit into smaller scale games (though I do prefer interiors being accessible in my skirmish games.)  We'll see how it plays out, hopefully soon!
