Blacksite Studio - Stinky Tom's Watchhouse

Today's session is all about another MDF kit from Blacksite Studio in the US. Stinky Tom's Watchhouse is another pre-painted kit that will help fill in some more options for fantasy-style games. The kit can by purchased on it's own, but I got it as part of the Riverthorne Hollow Bundle, with a bit of a discount for a collection of 4 of their kits, including the previously reviewed  Bandit Camp.

Blacksite Studio - Bandit Camp

I've been continuing to expand some terrain options for my tabletop, trying out some more pre-painted MDF kits.  This time around, I picked up the Bandit Camp as part of the Riverthorne collection from Blacksite Studio, a company out of Texas here in the US.

4Ground - Saxon Village

Another terrain project, this time the Saxon Village from 4Ground.

This lovely two-piece set has two simple buildings, coming a a pre-painted MDF kit.   These two small, one-rom buildings come with a faux-fur piece of fabric to simulate a thatched roof, an idea that I came across years ago and always thought was a great idea.

Once again, I purchased this kit from Badger Games.  It's nice to have a US distributor and not have to wait so long for products made in the UK.

4Ground - Halgar's Blacksmith

I recently got my hands on some new pre-painted MDF terrain for my collection.  After looking into a few companies and options, I picked up a kit from 4Ground Publishing.  For my first go, I selected Halgar's Blacksmith set.

I ordered my kit from the good folks over at Badger Games, with whom I've always had good dealings.

BotB - Treasure Hunt

I came across this game on Wargame Vault a few months ago. Always interested in new place systems, I picked up the bundle with Blood on the Blade, and its Sci-fi counter, Blood in Space when it was on sale.  I read through the rules a time or two, then ended up moving on to other projects.  After reorganizing some of my PDF prints into some binders, I decided to give it a go using some models I had handy.

SoBaH - Hamlet Raid

A continuation of my solo campaign. I am finally playing on a new gaming mat for added visual affect, so no more bland table surface.  This is a cloth mat, under which I placed some styrofoam hills.  I like the way it blended out the terrain, making more gentle slopes in this case.

SoBaH - Convoy Ambush

Next up in my campaign, a transport mission.  After successfully repelling the assault on the mission, our Guardsmen load up and attempt to withdraw some valuables and supplies out of the mission and back to town.  On their way, a few raiders await to block their path, hoping to get that booty for themselves.  The loner the Gnolls can delay the Guardsmen, the more raiders will likely converge to assist.  Can the Guards make it through the woods in time?

SoBaH - Gnoll Raiders

Here's another recent battle, my first foray into A Song of Blades and Heroes.  I had heard quite a bit about this game on various online posts, but had never come across it in person. Since I have a growing collection of fantasy models, it seemed like a great game to get me back into the hobby.  I drew up some lists from some models I had recently painted up for Frostgrave and decided to get it on the table.  Like most of my games these days, this was played at home solo, with me just playing both sides to see how the story plays out.

Scavenging in Zombietown

Here's an after action report from a game I ran not too long ago.

Ruleset: All Things Zombie by Two Hour Wargames

Thought I’d try a round of All Things Zombie for the first time in more than a decade. A little clumsy, and I’m sure I missed a few reaction rules for the zeds, but all in all a lot of fun.

About Adventures on the Tabletop

 Greetings!

I am a long time wargamer / hobbyest setting out with this blog to help spread the joys of tabletop gaming, as well as motivate myself to get some projects done.  This will be primarily geared toward tabletop miniatures games, but may see some other varieties sprinkled in now and again.  Posts will be irregular, but hopefully plentiful.

About me:

You can call me Mahoo, and may come across some postings across various forums about the internet under the same name. I'm from outside of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in the United States.

I first started with tabletop games in middle school when my brother and some school friends dipped out toes into the sea of Dungeons and Dragons.  We dabbled with a few games now and again, but never really got ourselves organized to really play the game properly.  A few years later I found a great hobbyshop in our town, and was introduced to classic Battletech. My friends and I played it regularly, starting with the boxed sets and hex-maps, then taking it to tabletop using some boards the local shop had.  From there I was hooked.

As I graduated highschool and started off in college, my friends and I discovered Warhammer Fantasy Battles, just into 6th edition, I believe.  We played for years, expanding my collection and spending far too much on several armies. We spun off into other Games Workshop properties as our gaming group expanded, getting into Mordheim, Warhammer Ancients (although briefly), and into Legends of the Old West.

I managed to stick with the hobby for several more years, but after college and pursuing graduate school, I got away from things. I found my way back into it after a few changes in my lifestyle, due in part to 2020's Corona Virus outbreak.

With newfound zeal for a long lost hobby venture, I find myself starting this to entertain myself, and hopefully a few who may find my ramblings.

Stay tuned for more to come! And I'm always open to comments, criticism, and general discussion!
